Aim – The demon

Posted in Demon Friday with tags , , , on November 13, 2009 by Joan De La Haye

Hello my Freaky Darlings,

Today’s demon is Aim.

According to the Goetia: Aim is a Great Strong Duke. He appeareth in the form of a very handsome Man in a body, but with three Heads; the first, like a Serpent, the second like a Man having two stars on his Forehead, the third like a Calf. He rideth on a Viper, carrying a Firebrand in his Hand, wherewith he setteth cities, castles, and great Places, on fire. He maketh thee witty in all manner of ways, and giveth true answers unto private matters. He governeth 26 Legions of Inferior Spirits.

So, Aim is a witty Fire-bug who wants to burn places down – Great!

Have a creepy Friday the 13th!

The Messengers

Posted in Horror, Movies with tags , , on November 11, 2009 by Joan De La Haye

Hello my Freaky Darlings,

This weeks movie is The Messengers (2007).

I really enjoyed this one! The black and white beginning was creepy and planted a seed that kept me guessing right to the end. The crows were rather freaky and ended up being an extra character in the story line. This wasn’t a blood and gore splatter flick, but actually had a plot and a few interesting twists. There were even a few moments that caught me off guard, which hardly ever happens, so that gave it a few more points. I will, however, say that there were also a few moments where it dragged a bit, but so far, this has been one of my favourites over the last few weeks.

Have you seen it? What did you think?

Have a horror filled day!

Marax – The demon

Posted in Demon Friday with tags , , , on November 6, 2009 by Joan De La Haye

Hello my Freaky Darlings,

Today’s demon is Marax.

The Seal of Marax

According to the Goetia: Marax is a Great Earl and President. He appeareth like a great Bull with a Man’s face. His office is to make Men very knowing in Astronomy and all other Liberal Sciences; also he can give good Familiars, and wise, knowing the virtues of Herbs and Stones which be precious. He governeth 30 Legions of Spirits.

Can you imagine Marax as a University Professor? A bear with a man’s face strolling on campus? Somehow I don’t think anybody would be late for that class or show up not having done an assignment.

Have a creap Demon Friday!

Thirteen Ghosts

Posted in Horror, Movies with tags , , on November 4, 2009 by Joan De La Haye

Hello my Freaky Darlings,

This weeks movie is Thirteen Ghosts.

A state-of-the-art remake of the classic William Castle horror film about a family that inherits a spectacular old house from an eccentric uncle. There’s just one problem: the house seems to have a dangerous agenda all its own. (Warner Bros.)

Of all the movies I’ve watched lately this was one of the better horror movies, so far. It actually had an interesting plot with some good twists. It was sufficiently creepy and had brilliant special effects. But the real star of the movie was the house!

If you’ve watched it, let me know what you thought of it?

Sallos – The demon

Posted in Demon Friday with tags , , , on October 30, 2009 by Joan De La Haye

Hello my Freaky Darlings,

Today’s demon is Sallos.

According to the Goetia: Sallos is a Great and Mighty Duke, and appeareth in the form of a gallant Soldier riding on a Crocodile, with a Ducal Crown on his head, but peaceably. He causeth the Love of Women to Men, and of Men to Women; and governeth 30 Legions of Spirits.

The crocodile certainly gives new meaning to a white knight riding in on his trusty steed. At least this cupid doesn’t have a nasty streak.

Have a creepy Demon Friday and an incredible Halloween!

Prom Night

Posted in Horror, Movies with tags , , , on October 28, 2009 by Joan De La Haye

Hello my Freaky Darlings,

This weeks horror movie is Prom Night.

I will admit that I haven’t watched the original, so this is all about the 2008 remake. Prom Night was not a mind blowingly intellectual horror movie. It was more in line with a mindless teen splatter flick with a pretty cool sound track. Although I did enjoy it, it was too similar to so many other teen horror movies out there. There were no original twists or turns. But if you’re in the mood for something cute, then this is probably up your alley.

Have a freaky day!

Bathin – The demon

Posted in Demon Friday with tags , , , on October 23, 2009 by Joan De La Haye

Hello my Freaky Darlings,

Today’s demon is Bathin.

Both The Seals of Bathin

Both The Seals of Bathin

According to the Goetia: Bathin is a Mighty and Strong Duke, and appeareth like a Strong Man with the tail of a Serpent, sitting upon a Pale coloured Horse. He knoweth the Virtues of Herbs and Precious Stones and can transport men suddenly from one country to another. He ruleth over 30 Legions of Spirits.

Now this demon could come in handy, although I think immigration officials all over the world would be a tad put out. I wouldn’t mind having Bathin transport me to all sorts of exotic locations all over the world. Could be fun!

Have a creepy Demon Friday!

The Haunting

Posted in Horror, Movies, Reviews with tags , , , , on October 21, 2009 by Joan De La Haye

Hello my Freaky Darlings,

I watched The Haunting this week.

The_Haunting_filmI first watched it a few years ago and, as with the first time I saw it, I loved the house! But I also still have mixed feelings about the movie. I think Liam Neeson is a brilliant actor, but his talents are some how wasted here. The characters don’t seem to be developed enough and Nell aka Eleanor was rather irritating. But the special effects were great, although I have seen better. The movies saving grace was the absolutely stunning house and Catherine Zeta-Jones’ wardrobe.

The Haunting unfortunately didn’t creep me out and didn’t leave me with anything to think about. It was pure mindless escapism which can also be fine if that’s what you’re looking for.

I think I’ll have to read the book.

Have any of you read the book or seen the movie? What did you think?

Ever Missed A Deadline?

Posted in Twisted Comedy Sunday with tags , , , , on October 18, 2009 by Joan De La Haye

Hello my Freaky Darlings,

This week I had some rather nasty tech drama when for some or other inexplicable reason the latest draft of Requiem crashed on me. Apparently the document was completely corrupted and I lost a couple weeks worth of edits and 5000 words. Luckily I still had a previous version that I could get into and I still vaguely remember all the changes I made. At least I hope I do. Anyway, this rather depressing episode also means that the chances of Requiem coming out by the 15th of December is rather slim. So I thought this little picture that my lovely editor Jayne Southern sent me is rather appropriate!

Missed the boatHave a wonderfuly twisted Sunday!
